After Accident
Just Had A Car Collision? Here's What To Do After
Most drivers would agree that the last thing anyone wants to deal with is the aftermath of an auto collision. Thankfully for drivers living in the Greater Vancouver area, help is not far away. If you need a friendly and reliable team of auto body repair experts to help you through the difficulties you’ll run into after an accident, look no further than Super Euro Auto. From filing your private or ICBC insurance claim, to a detailed summary of the required repairs that come with a lifetime guarantee, Super Euro Auto has your back! No one wants to get in an accident, but knowing just what to do in that situation can reduce a significant amount of stress. To help you keep a level head, and avoid any stress in the future should you have the misfortune of getting in a car accident, we’ve provided a few helpful tips below:
Remain Calm
The shock of even a minor auto collision is enough to rattle even the most level-headed person. While it is tempting to get excited and even angry (especially if the collision wasn’t your fault), the best thing to do in these situations is to remain calm and make sure the area is safe before you exit your vehicle. Once it is safe to do so, exit your vehicle and collect the other driver’s information such as license plate number and their phone number. You may also want to gather other details such as the make, model and colour of the other driver’s car. Once you have this info, try to find someone in the area who witnessed the collision and if you can, get their information as well. This can be very beneficial in the future, especially if you are at risk of being blamed for the accident.
Do Not Drive Your Vehicle
There are no two collisions that are alike, which means that no damage will ever be the same. If you are at all unsure as to the extent of your vehicle’s damage (internal and external), it is highly recommended that you avoid driving the car until an expert from Super Euro Auto can fully assess the damage.
Moving Your Vehicle
If you are unable to drive your vehicle to the garage for repairs, you’ll likely need a tow truck. Before you request a tow however, make sure you choose a service that is ICBC accredited. That way, you’ll be assured that your car will end up at an ICBC compound, rather than a private lot, where it can be towed to Super Euro Auto’s garage at no additional cost.
Filing Your ICBC Claim
Once you have completed the previous steps, it should be time to file your ICBC claim. To do this, simply call their office at 604-520-8222, or go online and provide the following:
- When the accident occurred (date, time, location, etc)
- Your License plate number as well as that of any other vehicle(s) involved in the collision
- Driver’s license numbers of all drivers involved
- Details of how the collision occurred, such as the directions you were travelling, where on the vehicle you were hit, vehicle orientation before and after the collision, etc.
- Contact information of any witnesses
- It is also a good idea to take any pictures at the scene of the accident if possible and share them with the insurance provider.
Contact Super Euro Auto
Once you have your estimate from the ICBC, you can contact our team of auto body repair experts at any time so we can make arrangements for your repairs and any other service you may require such as our free valet or courtesy car.
